I attended my examination for discovery today, June 28th and yesterday the 27th. These two days were hard days for me.
But you interpreted for me yesterday from 10 am to 7 pm straight and today again from 10 am, and I believe now is just after 6 pm.

제가 우리 추 선생님을 한 세 번 정도 뵙고 저희 통역을 추 선생님이 해 주셨는데 제가 추 선생님을 선택했던 이유가…
처음 만났을 때 제가 법원에서 한 번 만났었거든요. 근데 우리 추 선생님께서 대화를 할 때 보면 저희가 많은 통역관들을 만나 봤지만 제가 말하고자 했던 의도에 대해서 그 아주 섬세한 부분들을 다른 분들이 잘 잡아서 통역해 주시는 게 아니라, 그 통역관들이 생각하는 대로 그냥, 그 느낌으로 그냥 통역을 할 때가 너무 많았었어요.
그러다 보니까 이 통역을 하다 보면 내가 의도치 않았던 것들이 통역이 되면서 오히려 문제가 발생할 수 있고 다시 얘기해야 하고 다시 또 설명해야 하는 경우가 있었는데…
우리 추 선생님하고 제가 처음 했을 때 보니까 제가 의도했던 거랑 제가 생각했던… 그 말 하고자 했던 그 섬세한 부분들을 정말 정확하게 상대방에게 통역해야 하는 부분들을 통역해 주셔서, 제가 이제 법원에서 통역하면서 너무 그게 저한테는 좋았고 그로 말미암아 법원에 있었던 모든 일들이 좋은 결과들을 얻을 수 있었던 것으로 제가 기억을 하고 있고요.
그래서 제가 예를 들어서 중요한 통역을 해야 한다면 반드시 우리 추 선생님이 통역해 달라고 얘기를 하는 경향이 저한테는 되게 크고요. 예를 들면, 저희가 또 한 번 법원에 가야 할 일이 있는데 저희 변호사에게 다른 사람 절대 연락하지 말고 우리 추 선생님한테 연락을 해라, 전화번호를 내가 줄 테니까, 이 사람만큼 정확하게 이거를 잘 설명할 수 없는 사람은 없다, 잘못했다가는 설명을 잘못해서 문제가 틀어질 수 있으니까… 제발… 아무 데도 전화하지 말고 우리 추 선생님한테 연락해 달라고 제가 부탁을 해서 그렇게 할 정도로 우리 추 선생님을 제가 신뢰하고 추 선생님의 통역에 대해 제가 신뢰하는 바입니다.
그래서 저는 강력하게 우리 추 선생님을 많은 사람들이 통역할 때 우리 추 선생님과 함께하시면 정말 좋은 결과를 얻을 거라고 저는 강력하게 추천하는 바에요.

I met Ms. Choo about three times now, and she interpreted for us. The reason why I chose Ms. Choo was because…
I met her in court for the first time. What I noticed when I heard her speak was… We had met a lot of interpreters before. But when it comes to catching the intention behind what I’m trying to say and the subtle nuances, I’ve had too many instances where they just said what they thought I said, or just interpreted the gist of what I said.
Interpreting this way can cause problems when things I don’t mean to say get misinterpreted. This causes me to have to repeat or re-explain. On the other hand, when I had Ms. Choo for the first time, I noticed that she was able to catch what I intended to say, what needed to be said, and the subtle nuances of my message with real accuracy. That was what made me feel very satisfied when I used her services in court. Thanks to that, I was able to achieve good outcomes in the end as far as I recall.
So when I need an interpreter for an important matter, I have a strong tendency to ask for Ms. Choo’s help. For instance, there was another time we (my husband and I) had to go to court. I told my lawyer: “Please do not contact anyone else but Ms. Choo (I can give you her number). There is no one who is able to handle the case with such accuracy. If my explanation got misinterpreted, my case could go awry, please.”
I trust Ms. Choo that much. I trust her interpretation to the point that I pleaded my lawyer not to contact anyone else but her.
